Special Operations

The Poulsbo Fire Department’s Special Operations Program delivers comprehensive technical rescue capabilities to protect our community and the broader Kitsap County region. Our dedicated team provides rope rescue, structural collapse rescue, trench rescue, and confined space rescue services at the NFPA 1670 Operations level. Every PFD firefighter is also trained in marine rescue and vehicle/machinery disentanglement, ensuring rapid response to diverse emergency scenarios.

Beyond these capabilities, PFD proudly contributes six NFPA 1006 Technician-level personnel to the Kitsap County Technical Rescue Team (KSORT). This interagency task force unites all six municipal fire departments in Kitsap County with Navy Region Northwest Fire Services, Battalion 2 personnel to form a Type III US&R Task Force. Through this collaborative approach, PFD extends its reach and strengthens regional emergency response capabilities.
